Verified clear. Run five full sequences: draw, two presses, reload, two more presses. No pauses to reset between the parts. Film one sequence and watch where the smoothness breaks down.
Twenty rounds at 7 yards in five strings: draw, two rounds on card A, reload, two rounds on card B. The string is not finished until the round after the reload is a hit.
Run the full sequence in the gear you actually wear on shift, including everything on the belt.
Run it from real concealment. Every layer you add slows the sequence, and you need to know by how much.
Carbine version: two rounds, bolt locks, reload, two more at 25 yards.
AUX (when ready): the full sequence with all four hits in under ten seconds.
Separate skills have to eventually be practiced together or they stay separate.
You will want to attack this. Smooth it out first, then add speed.
Watch where your eyes go during the reload. That is where the time is hiding.
Under stress you will get the version of this you practiced, not the version you intended.
Each piece of this has been drilled on its own. This is the assembly.
Layer: start the sequence from a seated position.
Dry-fire: no ammunition in the room. Verify the firearm is clear — twice. Use a safe backstop. When you finish, say it out loud: “Dry fire is over.”
Non-negotiable. Every drill, every rep, every time. This applies to live fire and dry fire.
