OCT 10 · SAT Presentation

The Draw, Count by Count

The Draw, Count by Count

Dry-Fire · At Home

Verified clear. Twenty draws broken into four counts, with a two-second pause at each: grip, clear, rotate, press out. Finish with five full-speed draws to a verified sight picture.

Live-Fire · At the Range

Five strings of five at 7 yards: draw, one shot, inside the box. No clock. Clean mechanics at whatever speed clean costs you today. Holster work only if your range allows it.

Service Pistol

Defeat the retention device the same way on every rep so it never becomes a variable.

Concealed Carry

The garment clear is part of the draw, not something that happens before it.

Carbine

Sling version: patrol carry to mounted and on target in four counts.

Optional Standard

AUX (when ready): a smooth draw to a verified sight picture in under two seconds, dry.

Mind

Judge the session by your average rep, not your best one.

Your Daily Callout — By Archetype

♣ The Initiator Yours

Your hands will want to skip the second count. Do not let them.

♠ The Scout Yours

Your eyes find the spot before your hands start moving.

♥ The Guardian Yours

A clean draw under pressure is built from boring reps in the garage.

♦ The Strategist Yours

Four counts, same order, every rep. The structure is what makes the speed repeatable.

Coach's Note

Layer: add a lateral step on the first count.

Standards & Safety
The Four Rules — Every Rep, No Exceptions
  1. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded — always, no matter what you think you know.
  2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have decided to fire.
  4. Be sure of your target — and everything beyond it.

Dry-fire: no ammunition in the room. Verify the firearm is clear — twice. Use a safe backstop. When you finish, say it out loud: “Dry fire is over.”
